When to use it

Use this first for burst pipes, major leaks, overflowing fixtures, or unknown running water.

How to find it

Look near the water meter, basement wall, utility room, crawlspace, or where the main line enters.

What it looks like

Usually a lever or round valve on the main pipe near the water meter or where water enters the house.

When to use it

Use this for sparking, smoke from wiring, unsafe circuits, or when responders need power off.

How to find it

Find the breaker panel and make sure the door can open fully. The main breaker should be obvious.
